DARJEELING: Chief minister
Mamata Banerjee and
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) president
Bimal Gurung held a closed-door meeting at the government guesthouse at Richmond Hill in Darjeeling on Friday.
The GJM president did not attend the CM's function at Chowrastha on Thursday. Neither did any of the senior party leaders, including the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Sabhasads.
After the meeting with the GJM chief, the CM said, "The meeting with Gurung was good and positive.
However, he (Gurung) will not be able to attend the review meeting because of prior engagements." The GJM leader only said: "The meeting with the CM was good. I will not make any further comment."
After the review meeting held at the DM's office, the CM also termed it good. "We had a very good meeting with the GTA members and the municipality chairman and discussed in details how best to develop Darjeeling," she said, adding that the state would work in tandem with GTA. She also said henceforth review meetings would be held every six months.
