KOLKATA: Doctors at Calcutta Pavlov Hospital will conduct tests on Sanjib Shankar Gupta, who was found living with his mother’s corpse at their Chetla flat recently. Though initially found to be suffering from psychotic disorder, he has to undergo investigative tests that will assess his mental illness before the hospital submits a report.
The 52-year-old lived with his mother Reba at their Chetla flat.

Neighbours had informed police about smoke billowing out of the house last Friday. After the recovery of his mother’s body, Gupta was admitted to Pavlov on Saturday night. He had told doctors that he was trying to cremate his mother.
“I saw the patient myself on Tuesday. He is not fussy about anything and has been cooperating with us. We will set up a medical board to examine him because in addition to treating him we will have to submit a report,” said Dr Ganesh Prasad, medical superintendent at the hospital. The hospital has about two weeks to submit the report to court.
