KOLKATA: Customs officers at the Kolkata airport apprehended a man attempting to walk through the green channel with 234 pieces rubies in his undergarment and two gold biscuits in his belt. Karnataka resident Syed Abbas Ali (27) was stopped when he chose the green channel to exit the terminal after arriving from Bangkok. Customs officers spotted him when he detected signs of nervousness.

On searching him, the officers found 2 gold biscuits weighing 490 grams in his belt and 234 rubies in his undergarment. While the gold is valued at Rs 14 lakh, the rubies are worth over Rs 2 lakh. Ali was arrested for trying to smuggle in the goods.
