KOLKATA: Madhyamik results will be withheld if examinees resort to vandalism and fail to pay for the losses: West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has sent out this circular to schools ahead of the Class X board exams, set to begin on February 23.

The board has asked venue supervisors of 2,900 exam centres to take photographs of the premises before the beginning of exams every day and if any vandalism does take place, to take another photo and send it to the board’s central control room. The before-after photos, along with the name of schools, students involved and the details of the incident will have to be sent. Studying the details, the board will take action against the accused. “So far, the board had no written instructions on this. But given the vandalism that has become common every Madhyamik, written instructions were required to curb the ruckus,” said a board official.

The West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education implemented the system in 2013.
