, on Thursday, directed Kalighat police station to register a complaint by neighbours of chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s family as an FIR against Ajit Banerjee, the CM’s elder brother. Police was asked to file a report in court within four weeks on the investigation. ComplainantRanjana Hazra

Ranjana
and her brother Deepak lodged a complaint against Banerjee at Kalighat police station. On August 2, police picked up the petitioner’s brother Deepak who was allegedly assaulted before his release, the petition stated. Ranjana then moved the HC. Justice Bagchi directed police to treat Ranjana’s complaint as an FIR. The court directed police to provide the petitioners security and protection. Senior advocateBikash Bhattacharya
