Ranjana, who moved the HC, stated in her petition that Ajit Banerjee and his associates were trying to grab plot Nos. 9 to 13 on Harish

Street which, she claimed, were owned by her family. Nearly two decades ago, police had tried to settle the dispute, the petition stated. Ever since Trinamool’s victory in 2016 assembly polls, Ajit and his associates stepped up efforts to grab their property, the petitioner alleged.

On July 29,

Ranjana

and her brother Deepak lodged a complaint against Banerjee at Kalighat police station. On August 2, police picked up the petitioner’s brother Deepak who was allegedly assaulted before his release, the petition stated. Ranjana then moved the HC.
