HOWRAH: A cat-and-mouse ensued between three langurs and residents of Jagatballavpur’s Maju area in Howrah after the primates picked up a vessel, containing 3 bhori gold ornaments, mistaking it for food.
The langurs later left the gold ornaments on the roof of a house.
On Thursday evening, the vessel was kept beside a window of a house, when the langurs suddenly came there and picked it up.
When the family members raised an alarm, the langurs started fleeing with the gold ornaments. While they ran with the vessel, they kept smelling the gold to find out whether it was food or not.
When they realized it was not food, the pack kept back the gold inside the vessel and left it on the roof of a house.
