Kolkata students participates in tech fest


Six participants from Kolkata along with others from across the country recently took part in “Tech4Oceans: Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable Future,”. This is a collaborative approach to enhance awareness of ocean health and sustainability, organized by the U.S. Consulate General Chennai in partnership with the

Centre for Public Policy Research

(CPPR) in the coastal city of

Kochi

, Kerala.

The three-day tech camp to tackle emerging oceanic environmental issues such as rising sea levels, deteriorating marine life, increased oceanic and surface temperatures, unregulated fishing, and marine pollution.

The participants collaborated to enhance awareness about ocean health and sustainability through challenge statements and solutions, using tools which included artificial intelligence, remote sensing and

GIS

, storytelling, and pitching.

Nine international and local experts with 50 participants at Kochi, Kerala, underwent comprehensive innovation and technology-based training via presentations, interactive sessions, and group discussions. This platform has enabled a collaborative and multifaceted approach to enhance awareness about ocean health and sustainability.
