Their Delhi schedule over, the
Panga
team is set to begin shoot in Kolkata from today. Taking to social media, singer-actor Jassie Gill announced the wrap. In an Instagram story on Tuesday night, he wrote: “Wrapped up, abhi chalo Kolkata, yeh movie hum pure India mein shoot kar rahe hai”. The actor plays husband to
Kangana Ranaut’s character in the film, which is inspired by the life of a national-level kabaddi player.
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari
of Bareilly Ki Barfi fame, who is directing the film, landed in Kolkata after wrapping up the shoot in Delhi. Sharing a picture with her team, she wrote on Instagram, “In spite of tough schedule and soaring temperature, Delhi you have been really kind. (sic)”
Upon touching down in the city, Ashwiny shared pictures of north Kolkata and wrote, “Anondo (happiness)”. Said a source confirming the news, “Kangana will soon be joining the unit in Kolkata and Jassie will reach the city on April 14. The team will remain camped in the city for about a week. The shoot will be held in many popular locations across the city.”
The film also stars
Neena Gupta, Richa Chadha and
Pankaj Tripathi. Richa and Pankaj are currently away and there’s no news of them joining the Kolkata shoot anytime soon. Ashwini, who is no alien to Kolkata, was in the city a few months back and said she comes here every now and then. “I do a lot of ad films for firms based in this city. But I always want to come and stay here for a while, go to Santiniketan. But it’s not been happening. So I feel very bad about it. I think I am a Bangali person who doesn’t have fish and rice and born in south India by mistake (laughs). See, even my tattoo is written in Bengali — Aaradhya, Amaarisa and Nitesh. I love the pulse of the city,” she had told us before. Panga is about the trials and
tribulations of a kabaddi player and Kangana reportedly underwent months of training for the film.
