Last month, Kolkata Police had arrested two individuals from Goa and Mumbai in the same case. Police claim they are the masterminds behind a gang that duped investors by promising huge returns against investments made in cryptocurrency.

One cryptocurrency account and Rs 74 lakh cash have been seized after a letter was sent to the cryptocurrency exchange, whose office is located in the Cayman Islands. Police stated that multiple other digital arrest frauds are linked to this gang. "This is a rare occasion when we managed to block a cryptocurrency account," said an officer.

"The arrests were made after questioning of a mule account holder, Kalpana Roy. We found Tether (USDT) in his wallet that was blocked after sending an email. The current value of this wallet is Rs 8.4 lakh. During a search of one of the accused's house, we seized Rs 74 lakh in cash, two laptops, and two mobile handsets. We nabbed Kumaresh, from Krishnanagar," said Joint CP (Crime & Traffic) Rupesh Kumar.
