KOLKATA: The chest department HoD of RG Kar Medical College on Wednesday slammed an assistant superintendent of the hospital for lying to the parents of the PG trainee doctor that she had died by suicide, reports Prithvijit Mitra. "The hospital authorities should have filed an FIR," said Arunava Dutta Chowdhury.
"I was not the first to see the body. I came to know about it after I reported for work. The seminar hall had been cordoned off by police by then," he said.
The seminar hall where the doctor's body was discovered was supposed to be locked by 8.30pm. Chowdhury said the keys were with the nursing superintendent of the floor. Asked if permission had been sought to use it at night, he said, "A written permission is needed to use the hall beyond working hours, but I am not aware if it was taken."
