However, the CBI counsel, who arrived 40 minutes late, opposed the bail request, stating it would interfere with their ongoing investigation.

• Stalking and harassment cases: Culprits punished with 5 years sentence.

Following a seven-hour operation, Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials have detained Prashun Chatterjee from his residence in the De Para area of Subhashgram. Chatterjee, a close associate of Sandeep Ghosh, was also seen in a viral video from the seminar hall at RG Kar.

A Class XI girl involved in the 'Reclaim the Night' protest in Kanchrapara was reportedly assaulted by a group of intoxicated youths on Wednesday night. The girl suffered fractures and was admitted to Kalyani JNM Hospital. Although her family has filed a police complaint, no arrests have been made so far.

In a separate incident at Barasat's Dukbunglow More, a drunk man in his early 30s was arrested after making lewd remarks at two women returning from a protest rally that same night. The man also attacked the women and a family member when they resisted. Locals intervened, beating the accused before handing him over to the police.

The Kanchrapara attack occurred around 10:30 PM. "The rally was led by a 17-year-old girl, and it proceeded peacefully. However, as we passed Gandhi More, a group of five to six drunken youths grabbed the microphone from her. When she tried to retrieve it, they assaulted her, resulting in a fractured hand," said Debolina Nandy, a local resident.
