NEW DELHI: Kolkata Police summoned junior doctors, interns, and other staff, alongside the Head of the Department of chest medicine and a security guard from RG Kar hospital on Tuesday, to question them regarding the suspected rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee at the hospital.
Officials reported that around 25 individuals were called to the Kolkata Police headquarters for questioning. This included four doctors who had dinner with the deceased woman on the night of the incident.
"Around 25 people have been called for questioning today, including four doctors who reportedly had dinner with the deceased woman on the night of the incident," a police officer stated.
Previously, on Monday, police had questioned seven doctors in relation to the case.
The tragic event unfolded on Friday morning when the body of the postgraduate trainee was discovered in a seminar hall of RG Kar hospital.
The woman was allegedly raped and murdered. Following this, a civic volunteer was arrested in connection with the incident on Saturday.
