Kolkata CID files FIR against two BJP leaders

KOLKATA: The state CID has lodged a

case of fraud

against two Basirhat-Taki-based

BJP leaders

and their associates. The agency has named Ranjit Pal and Bikash Singh among others in the FIR. According to CID, the two had raised Rs 1.25 crore by duping 25,000 local residents, promising them houses under the Pradhan Mantri Abas Yogna.

"Investigation revealed they started collecting money from poor villagers last year. They duped the villagers by saying they will arrange house for them if they filled up some forms by paying them between Rs 500 to 1000. Around 25,000 to 30,000 people have been duped," said an officer. tnn
