KOLKATA: A team of officials from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation assessment department raided Shreeram Arcade, a shopping centre at Esplanade, and sealed three shops on Wednesday.
The officials served a notice on the owners of around 40 stalls, saying that if they fail to clear property tax dues by March 31, their shops would be sealed.
A KMC official said the civic body would need to realize around Rs 7 crore from the shopping centre.
Jacky Samtani, president of SreeRam Arcade Shop Owners Welfare Association, said, "When the traders started paying the dues, a KMC team sealed some shops."
