KOLKATA: A month after CID busted a

sex racket

where a woman was using her own children to run a

flying brothel

, Ranjit Basu Roy (45), from Patuli on Tuesday.

On December 14, TOI reported how the 35-year-old woman groomed three of her own minor daughters along with four other children to run the racket that operated out of flats in Tollygunge, Behala, and Bansdroni. “Those accused posed as parents of the children and lived as families in residential areas,” said Saji Philip, director of operation, International Justice Mission (IJM). Six children, including two eight-year-olds, were rescued by CID’s anti-human trafficking unit and IJM, which is a global human rights organization.

A resident of Shantinagar in Tollygunge, Roy and his associates had been running another flying brothel in south Kolkata’s Patuli involving minors. CID suspected the woman and her companion, Abhishek Saha, were not alone in this racket. Thus, they traced the woman, who led them to Roy.

The brothel manager had multiple charges of previous trafficking offences against her but had been let out on bail.”
