kolkata: sushmita banerjee, better known as 'kabuliwalar bangali bou', may move court to stop a film being made based on three semi-autobiographical novels written by her detailing life in afghanistan under taliban. banerjee, married to afghan national janbaaz khan, spoke to legal experts in kolkata on monday after she found that a company with whom she had signed a contract, had started shooting the film.
this is in violation of a clause in the contract which said the film could not be shot before banerjee cleared the script. banerjee has three books to her credit — kabuliwalar bangali bou, taliban, afghan o ami and ak borno-o mitthye noe. the film in question is being shot in three languages. the english version has been titled escape from taliban. banerjee said, in the changed international scenario and war raging in afghanistan, i don't want any film to be made that hurts sentiments or any community. that is why i want to see the script. but... shooting has started without my approval of the script.
