Kabir takes out curtailed 22-km ‘Babri Yatra’
Kolkata: Bharatpur MLA Humayun Kabir on Thursday took out a curtailed ‘Babri Yatra' from Palashi to Rejinagar. Kabir, who founded the Janata Unnayan Party after his suspension from Trinamool, has already started the construction of a ‘Babri Masjid' in Murshidabad. The route of the ‘Babri Yatra' (rally for Babri Mosque), planned by Kabir, which was scheduled to start on Thursday morning, was curtailed significantly.
The rally was initially supposed to cover 285 km, from Palashi in Nadia to North Dinajpur's Itahar. However, on Wednesday, Kabir said the march would be curtailed amid board exams in the state. Accordingly, Thursday's rally covered 22 km. Originally, the rally was supposed to be one of 100 vehicles, carrying 600 people. Thursday's rally, however, did not see so much of pomp.On Wednesday, an FIR was filed against Kabir at Maidan PS over ‘Babri Masjid' construction.TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh stepped up his attacks on Kabir on Thursday, saying: "The puppeteer here is BJP, which is pulling the strings. One side will try to whip frenzy over one religion, and the other side will do the same with the other religion. Kabir was with BJP in 2019, a party that demolished Babri Masjid. People will understand the reasons behind this newfound love for Babri Masjid on election eve."On Wednesday, leader of the opposition in Bengal assembly Suvendu Adhikari told ANI, "There is no problem if Hindus build a temple or Muslims build a mosque, but I will not allow Babar's name to be written."
