Kolkata: There is an imminent need for upgradation of technology in the state jute industry, said Darshana Vikram Jardosh, minister of state for railways and textiles while speaking at the Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC) on Saturday.
On Sunday, she held meetings with jute industrial officials and discussed how the market value of jute can be increased through improvisation, as she stressed improved jute quality and better strategies for greater market share. N G Khaitan, president of BCC, said railways helps in transport of goods safer and faster than roadways. The minister wanted Bengal’s hosiery, silk and muslin to be promoted properly. tnn
