Kolkata: The
CBI investigation into the Tapan Kandu murder case has pointed towards negligence in duty by five police personnel who were present in a patrol van barely a kilometre from the spot where the
Congress’s Jhalda councillor was killed on March 13.
“We have questioned the five officials twice already. They were present near Gokulnagar around 5.15pm that day.
We are checking if there was any deliberate delay on their part to reach the spot,” a CBI official said.
The central agency had on Saturday questioned the five policemen again; they had been “closed” by the district police for negligence of duty after the murder. The five, including a woman sub-inspector, had already been questioned on Friday.
The CBI also questioned Ganesh Garai, driver of the patrol van.
