International short film fest from tomorrow

KOLKATA: From the shortest three-minute capsule to an over two-hour celluloid tale, 41 documentaries from seven countries of the world would be screened at the International Short Film festival beginning here on Friday.

<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">KOLKATA: From the shortest three-minute capsule to an over two-hour celluloid tale, 41 documentaries from seven countries of the world would be screened at the International Short Film festival beginning here on Friday.<br />To be inaugurated with the acclaimed 138-minute African entry <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">The Truth Commission</span> directed by Andre Van In, the festival would have a separate section featuring works of legendary film makers like Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen, Chief producer of films division and Managing Director of NFDC Dipankar Mukherjee said at a press meet here today.<br />The five-day festival, being organised by the Films Division, would feature award winning entries from Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, France, UK, USA, Australia and India, he said.<br />The shortest film <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Mobile</span> by Joshy Joseph would be an attempt to look at social mobility through spatial mobility while portraying a collage on Kolkata.<br />The festival, to be inaugurated by eminent film maker Mrinal Sen, would have award winning entries in Kabir Khan''s <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Mechanics of Change</span>, Yashna Maya Padamsee''s American entry <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Pum Pum</span>, Dutch <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Tommie</span> by Tise Van Huisstede and <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">My Friend Su</span> by Neeraj Bhasin.<br />Other acclaimed entries would be the Tamil film <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Aayeeshaa </span>by V Shiva Kumar, Belgian <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">The Chinese Dog</span> by Lut Vandekeybus, Spanish <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Images of Dictatorship </span>by Patricio Henriquez, Amar Kanwar''s <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">The Many Faces of Madness</span> and Kabir Khan''s <span style="" font-style:="" italic="">Two Assasinations and an Accident</span>.
