I pray there is peace in Bengal: Amartya Sen
Kolkata: Nobel laureate Amartya Sen on Sunday prayed for peace in the state. On the recent law and order situation in Bengal following the Hills unrest and communal tensions in North 24 Parganas, Sen said, “I pray there is peace in Bengal.”
Sen, who was on his way to Delhi to meet Trinamool Congress MP Sugata Bose, spoke to a group of reporters outside the airport.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday afternoon, city intellectuals, including Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Pabitra Sarkar, Buddhadeb Guha, Justice (retired) Asok Ganguly, actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Bangladeshi singer Sahana Vajpeyee, will take out a rally from Esplanade crossing to Moulali crossing to protest against the censor board’s instruction to mute certain words from a documentary on Sen — ‘The Argumentative Indian’ — directed by Suman Ghosh.
