Promoter murder: Howrah cops arrest 3

Howrah: The Howrah police arrested the shooters who gunned down a 34-year-old promoter in Shibpur on Oct 23. One person was arrested from UP's Gazipur and two were found in a Nimta hideout where they had been for the past six days. Police said victim Abdul Kadir alias Prem and main accused Md Tousif alias Gera were locked in a fierce rivalry in PM Busti, which prompted Gera to gather a gang — some with links in eastern UP — to gun down Kadir.
Howrah Police commissioner Praveen Tripathy said, "Six have been arrested, including the duo who fired — Gera and Danish. One person, Akhtar, was arrested in UP's Gazipur and is being brought back on transit remand. Three others are already in custody." He added, "Criminal rivalry and personal grudge appear to be the primary motive. Kadir was earlier implicated in 10 criminal cases and was once arrested on murder charges."
