"The body has been sent for autopsy to NRS Hospital. There was a slit mark on the throat and the deceased was clad in jeans and a green T-shirt," he added.
According to Pallav Kanti Ghosh, joint CP (crime), there were no other injury marks on the body. "We verified with local police stations but the youth could not be identified. He might have been murdered somewhere else and the body was dumped here later," he said. tnn
The recovery of a headless body of a well dressed young man - bound and packed inside a gunny bag - early on Tuesday morning sent shockwaves across Tiljala in the eastern suburban region of the city. The body was recovered from the Raj Charan Ghosh lane near the Christian School. The cops said that till late Tuesday evening the identity of the deceased could not be identified. We checked the nearby police stations for anyone matching the profile of the deceased. We have so far found none,'' said Javed Shamim, joint CP (headquarters).
Top police officers said that the body was spotted by locals around 6 am. Prima facie, it seems like he is around 25 years of age. The throat was slit. The murder seems to have been committed the previous night. We have removed the body for postmortem at the NRS Hospital. When we found the dead body, it was bound in such a manner so that it can be fitted into the gunny bag. The deceased was wearing a jeans pant and a green T-shirt with reddish stripes. The jeans pant was torn at places and he was wearing just one pair of sandals,'' said a senior officer.

According to Pallav Kanti Ghosh, joint CP (crime), the deceased bore no other injury marks on his body. The fact that he could not be identified locally shows that he might have been murdered at some other place and then dumped at that particular place,'' he said. Sources said no identifying marks have been found on the deceased except the recovery of a lighter and an earphone. All neighbouring police stations have been informed and a dedicated police team has been formed to investigate the case.
This is the second incident in two days of unidentified bodies being found in Kolkata. On Monday, another unidentified body was recovered at Watgunge near Khidderpore.
