I loved it. People need to understand that it’s a play, it’s not the eighth novel in the series, so with the change of the genre, the plot would seem less continuous. It’s supposed to be seen, not read. For me, getting to read about Harry, Ron and Hermione one more time when I thought I would never get to, was pure joy.

Quick, cluttered and in many parts extremely lame.
I also felt Delphi was an extreme letdown. I have never come across a more ineffectual villain. And she was supposed to be THE VILLAIN considering her parentage (Voldemort + Bellatrix). It read like a fan fiction. The spells? Zero innovation there.

It’s good as long as you keep in mind that JKR did not write the book alone... her touch is there, but you have to read it like a play. Since it’s not a novel, there are gaps in the continuity and flow, which could have been explained better, had it been a novel.

I was disappointed. After finishing the book, I still have no idea who the cursed child is. Maybe the book isn’t about the boy who lived but the son of the boy who lived. I have a lot of questions but no answers. I was at least expecting a high-octane quidditch match. I wouldn’t mind another film though.

One thing that really appealed to me is how this book counters the way the previous books hero-worshipped Harry. Harry’s son actually has issues with him, which I found very interesting. The plot is good, with intricacies. However, had it been in novel format instead of a play, it would have been even more fun.

I will give it a 3/5. I thought of it as a well-etched fan fiction. Reminded me of Flash (the comics/tv show). Some parts were pretty good.
