Haridevpur stabbing: Man dies after killing wife

KOLKATA: A 32-year-old auto driver, who had on Sunday reportedly stabbed his wife to death in Haridevpur and consumed poison, later died.

Suvendu Das, an auto driver, stabbed his wife Krishna Dey (21) in the neck. After killing his wife, he consumed poison. Both were taken to a hospital where they were declared brought dead.

According to the police, Das and Dey had a registry marriage a year ago. However, Dey's parents did not agree to the marriage. A divorce case was also filed recently with both often getting into arguments, neighbours told police.

Police said that a further investigation was on to ascertain if there was any external abetment to the incident.

Statements of relatives are being recorded in this regard.
