KHARAGPUR: The Kharagpur GRP rescued 28 children from Bihar all aged below 18 from three traffickers from Kharagpur station on Saturday evening. The traffickers, Prakash Mahato, Sudhir Kumar and Mithun Kumar, were arrested.
The trio was trying to take the children to Tamil Nadu on the Patna-Ernakulam Express. Kharagpur GRP SP Shankar Chakraborty said that on Saturday, the train halted at Platform No.
1 of Kharagpur as the 28 children had come down from the train to have food. It was first noticed by the RPF. They informed the GRP. Then the officials came and started asking the children with whom they had come. They could not tell anything properly but only said they were with somebody called Prakash. Prakash tried to avoid the GRP officials as the case came clear to the them and the trio was arrested and all the 28 children were rescued.
