Golay, who did not contest the election, will be the next chief minister. He is scheduled to take oath as the sixth CM of the hill state at a public function at Paljor Stadium in the capital, Gangtok.

“SKM has met the governor and submitted a resolution to form the government,” said Golay.

Meanwhile, outgoing chief minister Pawan

Chamling

held his last cabinet meet and meetings with the chief secretary and other bureaucrats. Chamling had submitted his resignation to the governor on Friday.

“I am a soldier of democracy. I will stay wherever the people keep me. This time they want me to be in the opposition and I respect that mandate. Now I shall show what opposition is and what its real role is,” said Chamling.

He added that the administration should be democratized and systematized to ensure equality to boost society towards a democratic setup. Chamling asserted that the state government ruled under his leadership for the last twenty five years would be considered a golden era in the history of Sikkim.
