KOLKATA: The Kolkata unit of
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) paid homage to the 75
CRPF jawans slain in a Maoist ambush at Dantewada in Chhattisgarh earlier this month in a solemn function at College Square on Saturday.
GJM Nari Morcha president and Bimal Gurung's wife Asha Gurung lit 75 candles at the foot of a martyrs' column and welcomed the families of CRPF officers engaged in anti-Maoist operations in West Bengal.
She said the Gorkhaland movement launched by GJM was within the constitutional framework.
"We have organized this programme as we are all Indians and want to pay our respects to policemen who have laid down their lives in the service of the nation."
