KOLKATA: Forward Bloc leader Ashoke Ghosh has been admitted in hospital. The 94-year-old was brought to Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals on Tuesday morning. Hospital sources said that Ghosh was suffering from lower respiratory tract infection for the past four to five days. Admitted under consultant pulmonologist Dr Susmita Roychoudhury, Ghosh is in the intensive therapy unit.
His condition is critical.
“At present he is on ventilation support under conservative management with IV antibiotics, nebulisation, oxygen inhalation, ionotropic support, gastrointestinal and deep venous thrombosis prophylaxis,” said a medical bulletin released by medical superintendent (cilinical) Dr Partho Bhattacharya .
Apart from left leaders like Biman Basu, Trinammol Congress leaders including chief minister Mamata Banerjee and state education minister Partho Chatterjee visisted the hospital during the day.
