Former ONGC employee robbed of 8L

Kolkata: A retired ONGC employee lodged a complaint of an alleged online fraud of Rs 8,10,001 after he was induced to download and fill up a form bearing an ONGC logo by a ‘current employee' of ONGC.The victim alleged that he received a call on Nov 28, 2025 from a person who introduced himself as Srivastava and claimed to be an employee of ONGC. The caller instructed him to download a form and complete it. The complainant said he accepted it as genuine because he is a retired ONGC employee.
The caller then asked him to pay Rs 101 as a KYC submission fee. The complainant attempted to make the payment online from his bank account. On the next day, the victim noticed that Rs 8,10,001 was debited from the same account. "We are tracking the money trail and trying to nab the accused," said an investigating officer from Girish Park. The case was registered under Sections 319(2), 318(2) and 61(2) of the BNS.
