Film on B’desh liberation shown at JU

Kolkata: The screening of ‘Invincible Bravura' — Abhijit Dasgupta's documentary on Indian Navy's formation of the first ‘Nau Commando' that included eight Bengali escapees from a Pakistani submarine during the Bangladesh liberation war in 1971 — took place at Jadavpur University on Thursday. The film revealed the untold stories of training of Mukti Bahini members at Plassey.
As a journalist, Dasgupta has been covering Bangladesh since 1971. "World War II-era mines were modified at JU for the Mukti Bahini," Dasgupta said.
The film interspersed the recollections of the training process and execution through monochrome reenactment. Rupam Islam lent his support on vocals and lyrics. Jayant Kripalani, who along with Bimal Chakraborty bridged the various recollections in the documentary, read out a letter by AW Chowdhury, the sole surviving escapee who was a part of the team that participated in Operation Jackpot. Chowdhury had sent before the screening. Attendees like Samik Bandyopadhyay, Saibal Mitra, Raja Sen, Raja Dasgupta, Shuvaprasanna and Raaj Mukherjee emphasised the need to make the documentary accessible to Bangladeshi viewers to highlight India's contribution to their freedom movement.
