Fake loan racket busted in Park Street

Kolkata: The cyber cell of the Port division on Thursday busted a fake call centre on Park Street that allegedly duped residents of Kidderpore, Ekbalpore and Nadial of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of offering loans from a leading finance company.
Police arrested four—Zubair Ahmed from Kamarhati, Priyanshu Das from Gourangochowk, Syed Sk from Taratala and Subham Banerjee from Shibpur.The raid was conducted following a complaint from an Ekbalpore resident, who lost Rs 52,795 to the fraudsters in March.
“We found other victims from Nadial who lost Rs 82,000 to the same gang. Their call patterns and money trail led us to their office near Allen Park. We seized 28 phones, three laptops, one hard disk, 10 SIM cards, a cordless phone, 18 keypad mobiles and two pen drives,” said DC (Port) Zafar Ajmal Kidwai.
