Expat members take part in a nature awareness walk

A specially curated natural habitat awareness walk was organised by

Samrat Chowdhury

, a city heritage specialist on Saturday morning at

Rabindrasarovar

, with diplomats from several countries posted in Kolkata. A city-based photography club named

Lensnwings

was also part of the walk.

The group met in front of the lake and set out for the walk. The primary objective was to spot different flora and fauna of the area. They spotted more than 12 species of birds, including Common crow, Rose-ringed parakeet, Spotted Owlet,

Coppersmith Barbet

, Little cormorant, White-throated kingfisher, Black-headed oriole and Yellow-footed green pigeon.

" I am fascinated by the walk and had no clue that such a wonderful lake with an inclusive ecosystem existed within the heart of Kolkata, many thanks to you and your team for taking the pain to show me the birds, spotting them for me and making the story of each tree interesting and also showing a piece of history in the three canons. The moment of the walk for me was spotting the white-breasted kingfisher among the deep camouflage of leaves, said
