Ex-cop Nazrul Islam to fight from Domkal
Kolkata : Whistle blower ex-IPS officer Nazrul Islam will contest elections through his own party named Mulnibasi Party from Domkal in Murshidabad. Nazrul has already floated his own party and its symbol is whistle.
Islam said that Mulnibasi Party is mainly to protect the rights of the oppressed class, and people belonging to SC, ST, OBC, alongside people who had changed their religious belief because neither Trinamool nor CPM has helped in their upliftment.
Nazrul is known to have grudge against the chief minister as he was denied promotion to the post of DG and had to retire as an ADG. His latest books, Saradai Mamatar Oporadh, Vaotadir Bharsamuho, Ulangini Rani and a book of poems 'Chure Fela Chai' are all aimed at Mamata.
Nazrul said that his campaign would focus more on corruption and lawlessness as because political clashes are regular in Domkol.
Nazrul will contest from Domkol because he was born there and his father was a landless labourer and he too had to join his father during his graduation.
"People from the region might prefer me more because the head office of the party is in Domkal When I was a police officer, I always tried to help people of Domkal."
Initially Nazrul was not keen at contesting from Domkal as he was approached by Congress and CPM leadership, so that he could join hand and be a part of the alliance. "Congress wanted me to contest from Bhawanipore, as I know many secrets about the CM," added Islam.
