Enquiry into prison fight ordered

kolkata: inspector general of prisons anil kumar on friday ordered an ''high level'' enquiry into the fight of undertrials in the alipore session court premises in kolkata on thursday. two most dangerous undertrials on thursday fought fiercely with razors, leaving six undertrials and three reserve force police personnel injured. the ig (prison) in his order gave impetus on how an under-trial could manage to get hold of deadly weapons.he also asked his officers to see how an under-trial could wear an expensive gold chain around his neck. the city police on friday levelled an attempt to murder charge against notorious extortionist sheikh binod as binod first attacked his rival gudda alias zafar siddiqui, an equally dreaded criminal. meanwhile, friday''s incident has propped up serious differences between the city police and prison authority. city police officers said that it is because of prison officials, dreaded criminals like binod can still carry weopons with them. the police alleged that thanks to some prison officials, binod enjoyed access to mobile phone to make extortion call to businessmen. meanwhile, it was decided by the police to take extra precaution and reinforce escort for taking criminals of such notorious stature to court. there will be segregation of dangerous criminals while transporting them to places, a senior police officer said. the police, meanwhile, are willing to interrogate sheikh binod once more for some startling revelation by gabbar. gabbar recently had confessed that sheikh binod had got hold of a number of his sophisticated fire arms. that''s why the police had drawn a blank even after a number of raids in gabbar''s secret hideouts. binod and gudda were sworn rivals as gudda''s sworn enemy gabbar was binod''s friend.
