Eight DMs, secretaries transferred

KOLKATA: The state government transferred several senior IAS officers, including eight DMs, particularly in Jangalmahal and north Bengal where Trinamool Congress suffered a setback in the recently held panchayat polls. The eight DMs are from West Midnapore, Birbhum, Bankura, Jhargram, Hooghly, Alipurduar, South and North Dinajpur.


Indevar Pandey, who was PWD’s secretary for over five years, was transferred as additional chief secretary of environment department along with disaster management and civil defence departments. Ajit Bardhan will now head the panchayat department. SK Thade, who is prinicipal secretary of backward classes and tribal development departments will also be the commissioner of Midnapore range. Arnab Roy will be the PWD secretary now.

Surendra Gupta will be the new Presidency commissioner and will continue as secretary in health department. Binod Kumar will be secretary in the Sunderbans department. P Mohan Gandhi, who was DM of Birbhum, will now be DM of West Midnapore and R A Ayesha will be DM of Jhargram.

J P Meena will be now be DM of Hooghly. Sanjay Bansal has been appointed the new director of land records and survey.
