Edu board cancels appt of 842 teachers after HC order

Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) on Saturday issued two separate notifications cancelling appointments of 842 Regional Level Selection Test (RLST) 2016 teachers, based on a Calcutta High Court order. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhay had on Friday directed the board to notify termination of services of 842 schoolteachers by Saturday. The court directed the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) to arrange for counselling to these posts from among the waitlisted candidates by March 25.The HC order took the total termination tally in the illegal appointment case to 3,623. Of these, 252 were illegally appointed teachers in primary schools, 618 were teachers of Classes IX and X, 842 were Group C teachers and 1,911 were Group D employees.
