ED seizes 1.3cr from realtor’s offices
Kolkata: Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers raided Ballygunge offices of a real estate company on Wednesday and seized Rs 1.3 crore in cash. The owner-businessman, who also has interest in the food sector, is reportedly being questioned.The cash was still being counted till the time of going to press. A PTI report quoted an ED officer, saying, “So far, Rs 1 crore in cash has been counted. The counting is still on, and the amount may increase. The cash was kept hidden in different bags at the businessman’s office and residence. We have detained the businessman as he could not give appropriate answers on why he was keeping such a large amount at home. The investigation is underway.” A special team of three from the ED Delhi offices reached Kolkata, and along with their Kolkata colleagues, carried out the raids. The team is also linked to the coal scam probe, but ED did not comment whether the Wednesday raids had any connection to the alleged coal scam or not.
