Priest arrested for molesting minor in E Burdwan

Guskara (East Burdwan): A 66-year-old priest was arrested for molesting an 11-year-old girl when she was alone in her room at Guskara in East Burdwan on Friday.The minor's father lodged a police complaint saying that around 9.15am on Friday, when everyone in the house was engaged in puja rituals, the family priest went to the first floor to "change his dress". There, the priest allegedly sexually assaulted her youngest daughter in her room by touching her inappropriately, the girl's father said.Acting on the complaint, police registered a case under section 10 of the POCSO Act and arrested the accused, Dilip Kumar Roy.The priest, while being taken away by police, claimed that he had only tried to offer a cake to the girl and denied assaulting her.Roy was produced in an East Burdwan court on Saturday, which remanded him in 3-day jail custody.
