KOLKATA: Dreaded central Kolkata don Sadique Zafar alias Gudda, who is now cooling his heels behind bars, is allegedly trying to extort traders from the jail.
A few days ago, Shehnawaz Ahmed, a developer based in Karaya, lodged a complaint with the detective department that Gudda called him up from jail and asked for money.
Ahmed said he had received a call on his cellphone, where the caller introduced himself as Gudda.
He asked Ahmed to pay up Rs 50,000 and said his men would collect the amount. After that, Ahmed received another call from a person who introduced himself as Boni Das. He confirmed Gudda's call and told him to come to Bankshall court on Friday evening with the money.
Officers of the detective department's anti-rowdy squad nabbed Boni, 18, in front of Bankshall court on Friday. Probe revealed that Gudda has engaged several youngsters to collect money.
