KHARAGPUR: A day before India's one-day captain M S
Dhoni's biopic releases in theatres, Kharagpur seems to have hit a six. Residents are trying to beat each other in booking tickets to `M.S. Dhoni, The Untold Story,' a film that hasspecial significance for Kharagpur as Dhoni was born here and also began his working life as a railway ticket-checker here.
Many residents remember Dhoni asking them to show their tickets before entering the platform, on boarding or getting off trains. Others were overjoyed when neighbours or fellow rail way commuters told them that the familiar face on TV winning laurels for India and the T20 teams he led was once their fellow Kharagpur resident.
The film will release at the lo cal multiplex Bombay Cinema on Friday and all five shows have been sold out. “Tickets will only be available online. We expect all shows on subsequent days to be sold out too,“ said multiplex owner Ambarish Gokul Das.
The residents are all the more excited as Dhoni's years here, from 2001 to 2004, have been captured extensively on film.While Rajput plays Dhoni, Krishna's character is played by actor Sanjay .
Krishna, who continues to work as a TTE, said, “I am excited as my times with Dhoni find place in the story and someone is playing me on screen.“
