‘Dead’ voters protest in Baduria
Kolkata: Protests erupted in Baduria on Saturday after at least 33 living voters were allegedly declared "dead" through Form 7 applications. The alleged irregularities were reported from booth 45 at Byana village under Chandipur Gram Panchayat and booth 80 under Jashikati-Atghara Gram Panchayat.The allegations triggered a political slugfest with Trinamool blaming the BJP for the ‘intentional' error and the BJP making a counter alleagation that Trinamool workers, under the guise of protests, had attacked the BDO office and indulged in vandalism.

The local administration assured a probe into the matter, while the CEO's office sought a report on the incident. Baduria BDO Partha Hazra said: "Some voters have submitted written complaints. The matter is being examined and necessary steps will be taken."
