Kolkata: Calcutta High Court ordered the setting up of a special investigating team (SIT) to investigate the death of a 25-year-old woman, Rasika Jain, who had fallen from the third-floor terrace of her in-law’s house in February 2021.
Justice Shampa Sarkar directed special commissioner of police, Kolkata, Damayanti Sen to set up the SIT within seven days and start the investigation.
Senior counsel Kalyan Bandyopadhyay moved the high court on Tuesday, complaining that there had been no progress in the investigation for the past one-and-a-half years. Bandyopadhyay submitted that the police had not been able to trace the accused yet. The state counsel did not object to the investigation by a special investigating team.
