The police said they had nabbed Monirul Islam Hossain, a resident of Gosaba and a student of Islamic history, following the complaint lodged by Addus Salam.

According to the police, Salam claimed that Hossain had offered him a primary teacher’s job and asked him to pay Rs 8 lakh for this.

After much persuasion, the accused agreed to settle the matter for Rs 2.5 lakh.

After receiving the money, the accused showed no signs of handing out the appointment letter to the complainant, despite repeated reminders.
