Cops bust fake call centre, arrest eight

Kolkata: Eight persons were arrested on Friday after cops busted a fake call centre operating from a condo in Behala. Officers said Junaid Ali, Md Sakir, Md Khurshid Akhtar, Shadab Khan, Kundan Roy, Md Hussain Ahmed Khan, Zakir Khan and Sk Amirulla, posed Microsoft's tech support and targeted victims in the US. "Victims were persuaded to install remote access tools enabling the accused to take control of computers without authorisation. This was used to hack banking portals and extract funds", said Joint CP (Crime & Traffic) Rupesh Kumar. Cops seized five laptops, two routers and twelve mobile phones, along with digital leads and electronic data. tnn
