Contempt case: Kunal to appear before Cal HC

Kolkata: Calcutta HC has asked TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh to appear before it at 12.30pm on June 16 and explain why action should not be taken against him in a contempt of court case. Ghosh said he has "full respect for the judiciary" and that he will appear before the HC and "explain legally, with confidence" why action should not be taken against him.On May 19, a a bench of justices Arijit Banerjee, Sabyasachi Bhattacharya and Rajarshi Bharadwaj issued contempt rules against Ghosh and eight others. The high court notice was handed over to Ghosh by Narkeldanga police on Saturday morning.The case refers to an April 25 incident inside the HC premises, when a group of jobseekers harassed senior advocate and CPM MP Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya and his juniors.There were allegations that comments made by Ghosh had provoked the jobseekers.
