Contact man in Khadim case identified

kolkata: after a desperate attempt to trace the local contacts of the inter-state abduction gang which kidnapped city based footwear company khadim's vice-chairman partha roy burman on july 25, the state cid appears to have found a flickering light at the end of a tunnel. a contact man has been identified to be yunus. it may be a fictitious name. both happy and chunua mentioned this name to identify the person who arranged everything right from contacting tiljala ganglords chunua and sona to choosing the house where roy burman was kept hostage.in a portrait-parley with the help of harpreet singh alias happy singh and chunua, the picture which finally came out resembles the photograph of middle-rung criminal operating in both southern and northern fringe of the city. "he is currently absconding. the only oddity of yunus is that he can't live without having rice," a senior cid officer said. after a prolonged interrogation, cid sleuths came to know that gangster happy singh who had been arrested at delhi, was not present at tiljala on the day of the abduction. rather, stayed back at kathmandu in nepal. from there he planned the abduction at local level along with his accomplice aftab ansari, a varanasi based criminal, and local contact-man yunus. with the help of vsnl, the cid scanned through some on-line chats between happy and aftab. happy was found rebuking aftab for opening fire at roy burman. aftab was advised to arrange immediate medical facility.
