HOWRAH: A camp office of Ashoka Buildcon Ltd - the agency entrusted by National Highways Authority of India for extension of a stretch of NH-6 - was looted by armed miscreants on Friday. Five workers were also injured.
Besides decamping with two digging machines and 5,000 kg of iron material, the goons also snatched Rs 40,000 in cash and 11 mobile phones.
"Work was affected on Friday. The value of the goods looted is nearly Rs 7 lakh. We called up the police but there was no response. A patrol party arrived only after the miscreants had left," said Pradip Mukherjee, chief liaison officer, Ashoka Buildcon Ltd.
