Common syllabi for UPSC & WBCS

Kolkata: From next year, civil service aspirants don’t need to do separate or unrelated preparations for state and union civil service exams. “We have remodelled the syllabus for state civil service exams in sync with that of the UPSC so that preparations would be common for both exams,” state chief secretary H K Dwivedi said on Saturday.He was addressing the state felicitation for those who made it to this year’s UPSC. The event was organized by the state-run Satyendranath Tagore Civil Services Study Centre (SNTCSSC), which has thrown up seven of the nine successful candidates this year.Apart from the successful UPSC candidates, Chaitanya Khemani, Ishan Sinha, Akanksha Jha, Burhan Zaman, Priyanka Mondal, Sourab Das, Diya Dutta and Sara Shankar, former chief secretary and DG, Netaji Subhas Administrative Training Institute (NSATI) Alapan Bandopadhyay, higher education secretary Manish Jain, Bidhannagar police commissioner Gaurav Sharma, SNTCSSC chairman and former DGP Surajit Kar Purkayastha, SNTCSSC’s course director Jatin Yadav and Jyotirmoy Pal Chaudhuri, academic consultant, SNTCSSC, were also present.Bandopadhyay spoke of JSTOR, the digital library of 12 million academic journals and primary sources, access to which was extended to SNTCSSC students on Saturday.
