CM showcases work of 1 month, says TMC deadlock now broken
Kolaghat/Kolkata: CM Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday listed his administration's move on several issues, ranging from census work to land to BSF for Bangla border fencing, stressing how the new BJP govt has managed to break the deadlock during the Trinamool govt's term within just a month in office. After chairing an administrative meeting at Kolaghat covering the districts of East Midnapore, West Midnapore and Jhargram, Adhikari said: "Census work, which was kept on hold by the previous regime, has started, just as BNS has been implemented in the state, replacing IPC and CrPC, which was also not done by the former govt."Adhikari said the Bengal govt has started handing over land to BSF to fence the India-Bangladesh border, another contentious issue between the Centre and TMC govt.More than 50 lakh women have received Rs 3,000 under Annapurna Yojana, the CM said, highlighting the state's agreement with the Union health ministry for implementing Ayushman Bharat and the central allocation of funds for Jal Jeevan Mission.Describing the tenure of PM Narendra Modi, Adhikari said: "Modi-ji has taken India to newer heights over the past 12 years."TMC MPs Dev and June Malia, along with party MLAs Shiuli Saha and Dinen Roy, attended the admin meet. All 35 MLAs invited, including those from TMC, were present, Adhikari said. The CM said one of the TMC MPs acknowledged the freedom to speak, adding that the parliamentarian offered constructive proposals. "We want to create this bond," Adhikari said after the three-hour meeting. The CM assured that the much-awaited Ghatal Master Plan will be implemented and said he held detailed discussions with Ghatal MP Dev.Welcoming the assurance, Dev praised the spirit of cooperation. "I have always believed in politics based on mutual respect. Political differences may exist but personal attacks have never been my way. The CM has given his word that Ghatal Master Plan will be implemented… that is the most important assurance I could receive," he said.Saying that Rs 5 crore used to be spent for each administrative meet during TMC's tenure, Adhikari said basic minimum arrangements were made for Tuesday's meeting, and that would entail less than Rs 5 lakh. "Had the previous govt saved this money, it would have helped purchase X-ray machines and other gadgets for rural health centres," he added.MLA Saha took a sharp jibe at the previous regime, praising the new CM's inclusive approach. Earlier, there was a sharp "us versus them" discrimination, she said, adding that Adhikari wanted to move forward by taking everyone along.
